WHY LAZARUS LAUGHED : 96

Being

The Present is in fact the immutable state of being which we enjoy without apprehending it in the intervals between thoughts (i.e. mental activity of any kind). These intervals are outside time - which is a by-product of mental activity; are frequent, at every second moment, so to speak, in the time sequence; and, outside the time sequence, of infinite, or of zero, duration.

This is the permanent state of being in which we really are, and which is the immutable background of our phenomenal lives. To apprehend it is surely Awakening.

It follows that 'we' normally can know no Present.

Homo Sapiens

Is it not strange that man, who thinks himself superior to his fellow-creatures, despite all evidence to the contrary, should place himself below their level by destroying them not for nourishment but for amusement?

Karuna-Caritas

This insight in which love and hate are seen as one, as what we are only able to see as positive, as a 'chemically' pure kind of love, is not a result to be obtained by concentration or effort of any kind. It occurs automatically if the notion of an individual, of a feeler of love and of hate, is eliminated.

The self as lover or hater abolished, the emotion which is their reality is revealed in its pristine purity, as what it really is. And that is what appears to us as karuna-caritas.

The Present

The only self is the Present: the only Present is the self-Unself or I-Reality. The Eternal Present and the Unself are one.
