Enlightenment
'Every phenomenon that exists is a creation of thought.' (Huang Po, Wan Ling Record, 6.)*
Since Reality alone exists immutable, and objects do not - who is there to experience enlightenment? It cannot exist either.
Enlightenment is neither more, nor is it less, than our reality itself.
Spontaneity...2
Spontaneity is being present in the present.
Presence in the present, seizing the present, if only for an instant, is spontaneity.
Personalised Deity
To anyone firmly identified with a supposed 'ego' - God is necessarily his supreme enemy, and the embodiment of injustice.
But blaming God is like blaming the sun for not shining.Transcending Dualism
It is as subject-creating objects that we exist dualistically. In order to transcend dualism we must transcend the dualistic aspect of our reality.
Ceasing to mistake the object for subject only destroys the false identification which is the notion that the object itself is 'I' - it does carry one out of duality.
Show a Leg
When a friend or a child has a nightmare one tries to awaken him; often one has to shake him or thump him in order to bring this about.
And yet we wonder and are shocked when we read that the Zen Masters treated their pupils so roughly, using these same methods to the same end!
